Bawdy Storytelling has expanded – now, we’re Bona Fide, TOO! Bona Fide Storytelling is an interactive and live stage performance series that focuses on the stories that change our lives – the big, no holds barred tales you don’t share at a job interview. Funny, brave, transformational and true revelations, all hosted by Storytelling veteran Dixie De La Tour. This is PG-13 Storytelling, because you deserve a Friday night out, with cocktails even. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry – it’s way better than CATS!

Joe Klocek is a square peg in a round hole sort of guy. Raised a midwesterner, so he has manners, but living in San Francisco for 20 years, so he thinks he’s better than you. Joe does two things great – tells stories and talks to the crowd. Joe did a two month “comic in residency” at the first comedy club in Shanghai, China where he recorded an album exclusively for the expat community living and laughing there. Joe has been featured on NPR’s, “Snap Judgment”, appeared on Comedy Central’s, “Live at Gotham” NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and was commentator for the Emmy award winning documentary, “A Bridge so Far. “Co-Creator of the critically acclaimed storytelling show, “Previously Secret Information” Joe has also been a runner-up in the “San Francisco International Comedy Competition” and the Seattle Comedy Competition. Voted Best Comic in the 2011 SF Weekly Readers Poll, Joe has performed at every major comedy club in the country, including Alaska and is a regular on the Bay Area Comedy Scene.

Kathleen Auterio is a horror and heavy metal fanatic in a constant battle with gravity, reality, and deadly diseases. She’s told her stories from serious to absurd at The Moth GrandSlam, Bawdy, Fireside, Porchlight, Cynic Cave, StorySLAM Oakland, and RISK! When she’s not telling a story, she can be found singing, strumming or drumming with her band, The Beast of England.

❤ Born in Ohio, Matthew Martyr had a successful career in body piercing which led to extensive travel and spending some time living abroad in Australia. He has since left the body modification industry in the pursuit of servicing a global community. Since January of this year, he is happy to feel at home in the Bay Area. Matthew is a visual anthropologist, producer, director, and podcaster. Matthew has worked in news production, documentary, photojournalism, and independent short film. You also may know him as Two-ser from the This Damn World podcast, and he is proud to soon bring you the Bawdy Storytelling Podcast!

Candace Roberts is a San Francisco based singer/songwriter, filmmaker and cabaret artist. Since 2014 Candace has released two music videos calling out gentrification and income inequality in San Francisco: “Not My City Anymore” and “Hello Ed Lee“. In 2015 Candace released “Take Back Your Beaver”, a not-so-serious, feminist romp (nominated for the Berlin Music Video Awards) about reclaiming pubic hair and our bodies. Furthermore, Candace romances herself in her latest 2016 video, “Say I Do“, a comic nod to marriage, which also pays homage to the titular track of her 2010 album “Honeymoon for One”. Candace’s work has been covered by the BBC, KQED, NBC, NPR, Fox News, the SF Chronicle and Bitch Magazine. She’s been playing to full houses, most notably the Fillmore, Cafe du Nord, the Lost Church, and the Make-Out Room. She also rocks the house concert circuit and had a three year residency at Martuni’s Piano Bar. Candace’s cabaret shows, often deemed “brave”, are chock-full of original songs and American songbook covers and they deliver big on social commentary and confessional story-telling, covering wide-ranging topics such as: sex, self-worth, body image, consumerism, gentrification, immigration, racism and more.

❤ Award-Winning Storytelling Producer and Sexual Folklorist Dixie De La Tour created Bawdy Storytelling (the Nation’s original sex and storytelling series) almost 10 years ago, and earlier this year she gave birth to a brand new series, Bona Fide Storytelling. She is passionate about all forms of story, and spends her days as a storytelling coach, traveling event producer, master of ceremonies and teller of her own true tales. She has taught storytelling at Yale, been heard on the Risk! Podcast many times and has been Sainted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence for her work to reduce sexual shame and stigma. Dixie has been lauded by Master Storyteller Mike Daisey as a “masterful emcee, and her show is everything that works for storytelling—she creates a warm, safe space in which stories can bloom with dark hilarity, salacious textures, and moments of deep connection.” She lives in San Francisco with her partner, Bent, and their Saint Bernard, Quake, and you can find out more about Dixie and her work at www.BawdyStorytelling.com, and follow her on Twitter at @Bawdy and on Instagram and Facebook at Bawdy Storytelling.
