I’m thrilled to share my lo-fi extravaganza “Say I Do”. This is my second collaboration with the fabulous Jane Goldman after “Hello Ed Lee”. I broke the bank making “Take Back Your Beaver” so this time I decided to shoot on an iPhone, which was both liberating and challenging. I loved collaborating with a cast and crew of three, and you definitely can’t fuss over exposure, as it’s all automatic … all day.
“Say I Do” is the title track from my 2010 album “Honeymoon For One” and I end all my live shows marrying myself over and over again. The album, which was my own woo-woo walkabout toward self-acceptance, culminates in “Say I Do” as if to say “I’m OK”. I wrote “Say I Do” as a reminder not to lose myself … especially when dating or in a relationship … as I’d done in the past. I drank the Kool-Aid, believing I was incomplete unless I was smooching someone else, and I still think marriage is imposed upon women as the single most important thing they must accomplish in this life. Well I choose me. You could say this piece is a bit-o-satire … yet it’s totally for reals!
Say I Do
No more lonely Friday nights
No more sunsets filled with sighs
No more cats, no more cookies, no more crappy dates
No more fear of missing out
No more heartbreak, no more doubt
You were there, all along, so to you I sing this song
Will you marry me … me?
I wanna marry me … me
Hey I’m talking to you … I mean me
Booked a honeymoon for one
Costs me half as much for twice the fun
No more frisbee on the beach, got my boomerang
Oh how I’ve waited and waited for the fairy tale to come true
So please marry me, I’m so perfect for me
So please marry me, Say “I Do”
Well I loved me
Then I loved me not
Now I love me again, this time for real
Oh how I’ve waited and waited for the fairy tale to come true
So please marry me, I’m so perfect for me
So please marry me, Say “I Do”
